Lyman, SC---Doris Betts Kimbrell Wilson, 81, of 377 Virginia Ave. Lyman passed away Thursday, May 10th, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital in Spartanburg.
Born in Inman, SC on May 2, 1931, and raised in Lyman, SC, she was the daughter of the late Mr. Gordon Talmadge and Gladys Gertrude Harling Kimbrell. She was the loving wife of Carl Wesley Wilson, Jr. having celebrated 62 years of marriage.
She was a graduate of Converse College where she received her teaching degree. She began her teaching career at St. Augustine school for the deaf and retired from Lyman Elementary in District 5 after 27 years. She was member of Lyman First Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Doris Wilson Johnson and her husband Michael R. Johnson of Lyman; a son, Carl Wesley Wilson III and his wife Mary Ann Cromer Wilson of North Augusta, SC; five grandchildren, Talmadge Johnson and his wife Rachel Wyle, Miranda Johnson Clark and her husband Michael, Brennan Johnson, Wesley Carlton Wilson and James Kimbrell Wilson and three great grandchildren, Andrew, Nathan and Lilah Clark.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 3-4 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will held in the Seawright Funeral Home Chapel at 4:00 PM with Dr. Paul Moore officiating. Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
