Doris Elsey Painter, 78, of 1095 Maryland Ave, passed away Friday, December 28th, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. The family said, "Mom went to Heaven to meet our Father.,"
Born in the Redhill borough of Surrey, England on May 9, 1934, she was a daughter of the late James and Emma (Kipling) Elsey. She was the widow of Floyd Graham Painter, Sr. to whom she was married for over 54 years.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Spartanburg and worked as a nurse's aid for 10 years and in the admissions offices of Spartanburg Regional and Mary Black Hospitals.She was also a volunteer with the Red Cross. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sewing, gardening and reading. She loved Jesus and her family very much.
Survivors include three sons, F. Graham Painter, Jr. of Bostic, NC, Tim Painter of Boiling Springs, SC, and Sharon and Michael Painter of Spartanburg,SC. She also has five brothers and two sisters, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Seawright Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel conducted by the Rev. Terry Pleasant.
