Inman, SC---Mrs. Doris "Granny Doris" Blackwell Johnson, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Born in Inman, SC on August 8, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Fannie (Lawrence) Blackwell. She was the wife of the late Mr. Homer L. Johnson.
She was a graduate of Gramling High School "Class of 1941" and Winthrop College. Mrs. Johnson retired from Inman Elementary school after 30 years of teaching and was a member of Gramling United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Bruce Johnson (Kris), Bryan Johnson and Brad Johnson (Debbie);
Seven Grandchildren, Alicia Womick (Jason), Brandon Johnson (Leanna), Baron Johnson (Christy), Blake Johnson, Marsha Taylor (Jason), Brent Johnson (Kelly) and Brooke Blake (Brandon) and nine great grandchildren; one sister, Jean Dorman; two sister-in-laws, Virgie Blackwell and Barbara Runion and a very special friend, Mr. Tommy Maxwell.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Barney Blackwell, Guy Blackwell and Ray Blackwell; three sisters, Marjorie Holden, Antho Hill and Pauline Hammett and two sister-in-laws, Ruth Blackwell and Cleo Blackwell.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 1:00 - 2:45 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the Seawright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rebecca Wilkins and Rev. Will Brown officiating. A private family committal service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the home of Bruce and Kris, 6460 New Cut Road, Inman, SC 29349.
