Doris Powell Drake, 77, of 229 Overhill Drive, Duncan, SC, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum, SC. Doris was born in Greer, SC on September 11, 1940, a daughter of the late Smiley Ray and Nora (Bridwell) Powell.
She was the wife of Jerry Edward Drake. She was formerly employed at the Happy Day Play School in Duncan and worked in textiles, and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her husband, Doris is survived by three daughters, Cathy Sarmiento (Ricardo), of Duncan; Sandra Hawkins, of Duncan; Kimberly Brock (Harold), of Reidville; two sons Bobby Wood (Bonnie), of Spartanburg; Michael Wood, of Duncan; a brother, Charles Powell (Joyce), of Boiling Springs, six grandchildren, Dustin Wood, Matt Wood, Cassie Lemus, Sierra Burrows, Amber Malone, Ashley Hoover, four great grandchildren, James Wood, Charlotte Wood, Adrien Lemus, Aurora Grace Burrows and one on the way (Hayden). The family is at her home and will receive friends Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 27, 2018 at 1:30 PM at the Seawright Funeral Chapel in Inman, SC with Dr William Pate, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery in Wellford. In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201.
