Donald Walker
Donald Dewey Walker, 63, of Campobello, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 10, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, SC.
A veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War, Mr. Walker was born Sept. 5, 1948, in Rutherford County, the son of the late James Franklin and Jessie McKinney Walker. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jane Bradey Walker; his sons: Dayle (Lori) Walker of Campobello and Steven (Shellie) Walker of Inman, SC; three grandchildren: Dylan and Caitlyn Walker of Campobello and Maddie Walker of Inman. Additional survivors include brothers: Arthur (Barbara) Walker of Virginia Beach, VA, Johnny (Clara) Walker, Marion, NC, Walter (Lulu) Walker of Landrum, SC; and a sister: Rebecca Walker of Grayson, KY.
Mr. Walker was employed for over 42 years at Landrum Mills, and was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church, where he served on several committees and was a teacher in the children's department and assistant teacher for the men's #2 Sunday school class. He was also a member of the Foothills Antique Power Association.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday, at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 12 at 2:30 PM at the Walnut Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Todd Johnson officiating. Honorary escort will be members of the Foothills Antique Power Association and the Men's #2 Sunday School Class. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
