Donald Richard "Poppie" Rogers

Donald Richard "Poppie" Rogers, 77, of Campobello, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at his home. 

Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on November 19, 1946, he was the son of the late William Wilson Rogers and Frances Elizabeth Bradley Rogers. He was the loving husband of Brenda Coates Rogers having celebrated 58 years of marriage. 

He was a member of Campobello First Baptist Church where he served on the Hostess Committee and as a Sunday School Teacher. He worked with Biltmore Dairy and Pet Dairy for many years before going to work for Spartanburg School District One where he retired. He enjoyed volunteering at District One elementary schools tutoring and sharing his magic shows with the children. 

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Monica R. Edwards and her husband Michael of Campobello, South Carolina and Amy R. Ruff and her husband Daniel of Inman, South Carolina; one sister, Debra Dale and her husband Mike of Clifton, South Carolina along with four grandchildren, Haley, Luke, Seth and Jackson and three honorary grandchildren, Jenna Brock, Trent Brock and Dillan Trojan.

He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Rogers. 

The family welcomes friends to come by the home.  

A private memorial service will be held for the family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Campobello First Baptist Church or to the Melba Wheeler Scholarship.
