Donald Dean Bishop, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Born July 13, 1940 in Spartanburg, he is the son of the late Ruby Kate Bishop and Hollis Dean Bishop, and the beloved husband of the late Brenda Suttle Bishop for 59 years. He was a life-long resident of Boiling Springs and North Spartanburg. Don was a veteran of the United States Army, and worked for Menzel Inc. for 40 years. He attended Boiling Springs First Baptist Church, and was a member of Shriners International. He had a youthful spirit and strong faith, and was always willing to share a smile and conversation. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and playing music. He was a bass guitarist with the Mickey Finn Band and enjoyed entertaining for many years until the band retired. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. As an avid fan of his grandchildren, he supported all of their academic and sports activities as well as their professional pursuits. In addition to his parents and wife, Don was predeceased by his son, Randy Bishop. He is survived by his son Craig Bishop and wife Lisa, and their children Sumner, Brooks and Caroline of Boiling Springs, SC; sister-in-law Barbara Britt of Wilmington, NC; along with extended family in Wilmington, NC and Charlottesville, VA. A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held graveside Monday, May 4, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Highway 9, Boiling Springs, SC, by the Reverend Mike Blackwood. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boiling Springs First Baptist Church, 3600 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
