Don Lee Fortner

Don Lee Fortner passed away January 16, 2026 at Lakewood Assisted Living in Boiling Springs. Born on November 15, 1944, Don was the son of Livingston Blease (L.B.) and Marie Galloway Fortner, who were from Greer. Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Emily McCrary Fortner, his sister, Lois Stringer; his children, Jim (Kim) Fortner, Kris (Cathi) Fortner, and Jeff (Jen) Fortner. Don also had seven grandchildren; Rebecca (Kyle) Mathis, Stephanie (Billy) Marshall, Bailey Fortner, Julia Fortner, Maebe Fortner, Jordan Fortner, and Josie (Bryce) Fortner. Don was also blessed with eight beautiful great grandchildren.

Don was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg. After working for WSPA Channel 7 for 13 years, Don worked for and retired from South Carolina Educational Television as an engineering manager. He loved history (especially family), playing the guitar, and often entertaining the grandchildren with that. They were the love of his life. Don was an avid Ham Radio operator and enjoyed communicating with friends and people all over the world. Don loved corny dad jokes, probably something he is doing in heaven right now. Importantly, he grew in his love of the Lord and is now rejoicing with his Heavenly Father.

The family will be at the home of his son Jim at 520 World Tour Drive, Inman. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Wood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Miracle Hill (Spartanburg Downtown Rescue Mission) 189 N. Forest Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
