David Canty Turner, Sr, 78, of 337 Rexford Drive Moore, and formerly of 190 Lewis Road, Campobello, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum.
David was born in Mullins, S.C. on September 13, 1937, a son of the late Leroy and Annie Malpass Turner and was the husband of Betty Peace Cassell Turner. He retired from Gowan Motor Company and was a member of West Spartanburg Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army, was an avid fisherman, loved playing the guitar, a gardener, enjoyed gospel music, and was a car enthusiast. Mr. Turner was a mason and a member of The Hejaz Shriners. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; David Turner Jr. (Lyn), Victor Turner (Megan), a daughter; Sandra Lee (Ron), stepchildren; Rick Faile (Kim), Michael Faile, Scott Cassell (Kim), Casey Cassell, nine grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Seawright Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at Seawright Funeral Chapel, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 5th, with Rev. Heyward Calvert officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 pm at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, S.C.
