David Ernest Opfer

David Ernest Opfer, 80, of Taylors, SC, passed away Monday, November 2, 2026, at his home. David was born in Providence, RI on August 29, 1946. He was the son of the late Muriel (Hughes) and Harry Opfer. David was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Air Force as a mechanic. He married his beloved Marcella on July 26, 1969. They lived in, Cape Cod, MA where they started their family, they then moved to Houston, TX.  After a few years in Texas they moved to Drummond, OK where they stayed for 32 years. Their final move was to Taylors, SC where he lived out the rest of his life. David was preceded in death by his, beloved, Marcella; his parents, Harry and Muriel and his grandson, Garrett Opfer. David is survived by, his three children, Brenda Klotz (Wayne), Tammie Thompson (Matt) and Matthew Opfer (Leigh); seven grandchildren, David Klotz,Grace Spaid (Fred), Christy Thompson, Erin Thompson, Josie Opfer, Aubree Opfer and Kali Opfer; one great grandson, Wayne Windel Spaid; one sister, Sandra Deblois, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. David loved spending time in his garage, working on cars and watching birds. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Stable Life Worship Center, 520 Blue Ridge Street, Inman, SC 29349

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
