Danny Ned "Red" Cooper, 55, of 340 Jackson Road Inman, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at his residence. Danny was born in Spartanburg on June 14, 1962, a son of Cecile Blanton Ravan, of Inman and the late Billy Cooper. He was the husband of Karen Scruggs Cooper and was retired from Spartanburg County School District One. He was a member of Apalache Baptist Church in Greer and had previously been a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and RA Director. He was an avid fisherman and was the President and a founding member of Lake Cooley Bass Club.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by two sons; Wayne Cooper of Inman, Chad Cooper and wife Carrie of Startex, a brother; Darrell Cooper and his wife Cindy of Lyman, a sister; Jeanette Shafer and her husband Robert of Spartanburg, four grandchildren; Zachary Jones, Bella Cooper, Noah Cooper, and Hayden Cooper. The family is at the home and will receive friends Thursday 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Apalache Baptist Church in Greer, at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 11th, with Rev. Eddie Cooper and Rev. Mark Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman. The Lake Cooley Bass Club will serve as pallbearers and honorary escorts. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Association of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties Inc., PO Box 1582, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
