Daniel Ray Fowler, 76, of 3 Powell Circle in Inman, passed away Saturday, August 15th, at Spartanburg Medical Center. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Daniel was born in Spartanburg County on August 1, 1950, a son of the late Gennell Suddeth Fowler and Earl Fowler and was a lifelong resident of the Inman area.
He was the husband of Nancy Ford Fowler celebrating 56 years of marriage and built a life centered around family, friendships and people they know.
Daniel retired from at Bud Moore Engineering and later from JP Carlton. He had a true passion for racing. He loved NASCAR and drag racing, and was often found talking about cars, engines, and racing with anyone who shared his interest. He was a talented mechanic who understood engines and and had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went. Daniel knew so many people and so many knew and loved him. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in his work and all that he did.
He served in the U.S. Army with two tours in Vietnam, followed by six years in the SC Army National Guard which reflected the dedication, strength, and commitment that were such an important part of who he was.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Crystal Parks and Donna Britt (Kirby), a brother, JW Fowler, his grandchildren, Kiersten King (Gabe), Payton Britt, Owen Britt, Jansen Parks and great grandchildren, Ottilie King and Stevie Rose King. He was the father who was always there and would do anything for anyone. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a brother, Dennis Lee Fowler.
Daniel was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church in Wellford where his funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 19th at Little Mountain Baptist Church in Wellford, SC with Rev. Doug Godfrey and Rev. Brad Starnes officiating.
Burial will follow in Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Wednesday at Little Mountain Baptist Church from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
