Dan Charles Ellis, 87, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Dan was born in Spartanburg on January 8, 1928, a son of the late Ruth Henderson Ellis and Woody R. Ellis. He was the husband of Cynthia Caldwell Ellis and was the retired owner and operator of Ellis Repair Service, Inc., formerly known as City Cycle and Awning. He was a member of River Hills Baptist Church and had served in the U.S.Army with the Philippine Occupation Forces. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter; Jane E. Parker (Richard) of Spartanburg, a son; Michael J. Ellis of Boiling Springs, a brother; Thomas B. Ellis (Barbara) of Roebuck, two sisters; Louise E. Griffin of Spartanburg, Pat E. Brown of Pauline, five grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. The family is at the home his daughter and will receive friends Saturday 1:00 until 1:50 at River Hills Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at the church following the visitation at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kent Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at River Hills Baptist Church, 5762 Reidville Road Moore, S.C. 29369.
