Mr. Clyde Allison, 87, of 8 Culbreth Street, Inman died Thursday, January 24th, 2008 at Spartanburg Hospital For Restorative Care.
Mr. Allison was born in Campobello, SC on May 27, 1920, the son of the late Bascomb H. and Rachel Simms Allison. He served in the US Army and retired from the US Air Force. During his tenure in the military, Mr. Allison received the Silver Star for bravery and gallantry in action on May 5, 1943, he also received a campaign ribbon with six bronze stars. While taking part in the invasion at Omaha Beach, he sustained injuries for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He further received the Bronze Star and the Jubilee of Liberty medal. Mr. Allison was a member of Inman Mills Baptist Church, American Legion Post # 45, And Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Edith Mosback Allison of
the home, a daughter, Loretta Diane Loan of Inman, a grandson, Derrill McKelvey of Gaffney, three granddaughters, Alisha Loan, Kristen Loan, and Rachae1 Loan all of Inman, a great granddaughter, Madisyn Rose McCullough of Gaffney, and a number of nieces and nephews. Being predeceased by his brothers and sisters, he was the last survivor of his immediate family. Graveside services will be held Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 3:00pm in Good Shepherd Memorial Park in Boiling Springs conducted by Rev. Roger Allison. Military honors by the Rutherford County Honor Guard will be conducted at the graveside. The family is at their home and will receive friends 2-2:45 pm Sunday at Seawright Funeral Home.
