Cliff J Rowell, 90, of 4719 Pleasant Grove Road, Waxhaw, NC, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe, NC.
Cliff was born in Monroe, NC on May 28, 1928, a son of the late Bessie Lee Byrum Rowell and William Clyde Rowell. He was the husband of Doris Godfrey Helms Rowell of the home. He was first married to the late Betty Mullis Rowell for over 52 years. He wore many hats, his favorite being "PaPa C".
Cliff served in the U.S. Army for eight years during the Korean War; and was a businessman, owner and operator of Auto Parts, Inc. He was a member of Waxhaw Baptist Church and was a former member of Inman First Baptist Church, where he served as Brotherhood Director, Sunday School Director, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher and had been actively involved in other areas as well. He was a member of Gideons International, Woodmen of the World, Waxhaw Masonic Lodge #562 AFAM where he had served as Worshipful Master; he served the Breakfast Optimist Club in Spartanburg as President and also as Lt. Governor for Optimist International, past president of Inman Lions Club, and a member of American Legion Post 45.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Beverly Jennings and her husband Bill of Chesnee, a daughter, Neisey Barnwell and her husband David of Campobello, a daughter, Kim Brower and her husband Kenneth of Inman, a daughter in law, Judy Smith of Cross Hill, SC, seven grandchildren; Josh, Katie, Matt, Brandi, Caroline, Sam, and Chasity; thirteen great grandchildren; and two more great grandchildren in the near future; his siblings; Virginia Connell, Bertie Marze, Jerrie Pallet, Betty Jean Manus, and Henry Rowell. Cliff was also predeceased by a son, Rusty Rowell, and siblings, Bruce Rowell, Dot Adcock, Ellen Manus, and Lester Rowell.
The family will receive friends 2:00 until 2:45 Thursday, October 4th at Seawright Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 4th at Seawright Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Whittaker officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
