Clayton Taylor, 92, of 280 N. Main Street, Inman, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020 at his residence after an extended illness.
Clayton was born in Columbus, N.C. on January 22, 1928, a son of the late Clara Owens Taylor and George Taylor and he was the husband of Margaret Wilson Taylor.
He was the retired owner and operator of Taylor's Tire World in Inman. He was a member of Inman First Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, having spent 28 months as a POW.
Survivors include a daughter; Cheryl Pigate and her husband Edward of Inman, two brothers; Roy Taylor of Green Creek, NC and Stewart Taylor of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren: Seth and Joanna Pigate, Syrus Pigate and Johnny and Samantha Martinez, great grandchildren: Hughston Perez, Cruze Martinez, Cameron Martinez, Bristol Pigate, and Lydianna Pigate. In addition to his parents, Clayton was also predeceased by a daughter, Pamela Martinez, three brothers; Theodore, Claude, and Roscoe Taylor, three sisters; Oceania Evans, Lillie Wilson, June Taylor and a granddaughter, Amanda Martinez.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 8th at Inman First Baptist Church in Inman with Dr. Paul Moore and Dr. Tommy Turner officiating. Military Honors will be performed by VFW Post 200 at the church. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
