Claude Emory Bishop

Claude (Emory) Bishop, 93, of Inman, SC, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at Upstate Community Hospice House. He was born October 23, 1930, in Inman and is predeceased by his parents, William (Claude) and Viola Hayden Bishop. He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Nan Yelton Bishop, his two sons, William Mack Bishop and James (Rodney) Bishop (Donna) and his daughter, Sherry Bishop Adams (Robert). He is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth (Lib) Bishop Tiller and Frances Bishop Wray, grandchildren, Laura Adams Linman (Josh),  Will Adams (Jamie), Tiffany Creech (Blaise), Hayden Bishop Arriola (Victor), Sydney Bishop and his two great-grandchildren, Harper (Happ) Adams and Emory James Linman along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

Emory graduated from Inman High School and attended Clemson College before being sent to Fort Jackson where he served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. His first occupation and love was farming. He worked for the South Carolina Farm Bureau Federation, retiring after 28 years. His greatest pleasure was attending Clemson Football games. He proudly served on several boards and committees with the Clemson Agriculture Department. He enjoyed traveling and he and Nan traveled all 50 states and several countries. Emory also enjoyed for many years flying his own little Cessna plane and taking his family on many adventures in that plane. 

Inman First Baptist was his church home for 93 years. He served as a deacon and on many committees during those years and taught boys Sunday School Classes for 30 years. His warm personality opened many doors for him, and he never met a person that he didn't at least attempt to talk with. 

The body will lie in state at Inman First Baptist Church from 10:00-11:00 AM on Monday, June 24, 2024.

The Celebration of his life service will begin at 11:00 AM at Inman First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Moore and Rev. Jeremiah Childers officiating. 

Burial with Military Honors provided by Boiling Springs Post 200 will be in the Inman Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at Bishop Farms, 1850 Bishop Road, Inman, SC 29349 following the burial.
