Spartanburg, SC---Mrs. Clara Stephens Collins, 79, of 507 Honeysuckle Rd. passed away on Tuesday, July 19th, 2011 at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.
Born in Spartanburg, SC on July 4, 1932, she the daughter of the late Wilton T. and Mary (Rodgers) Stephens and was the wife of Barney "B.A." Collins, having celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage.
Mrs. Collins retired from Abbott Laboratories, was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg since 1962, where she taught Sunday school for the toddlers and was a member of the Saints of Life Seniors Club.
In addition to her husband, Mr. Barney "B.A." Collins she is survived by two sons, Randy Collins and his wife Sharon of Austin, TX, and Bobby Collins and his wife Roben of Chesnee, SC; five sisters, Elizabeth Wofford, Margaret Randall, Judy Blessel, Ruth Cothran and Bessie Pearson all of Spartanburg; five grandchildren, Jason Collins and his wife Jenny, Dana Horton and her husband Tim, Jami Collins, Kristen Collins and Chris Collins; two great grandchildren, Ethan Collins and Alyssa Horton. She was predeceased by one son, Donald Collins, one sister, Shirley Nodine and four brothers, Wilton Stephens, Jr., Robert Stephens, Joe Stephens and Paul Stephens.
The family will receive friends today, Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 6-8PMat Seawright Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist North Spartan burg at 11AM on Friday, July 22nd, with Rev. AI Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Good Shepherd Memorial Park in Boiling Springs, SC. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Kelly, Eddie Kelly, Larry Kelly, Mike Kelly and Mark Gregory.
