Mr. Carroll Kistler Johnson, 79, went to his eternal rest on February 19th, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Carroll was born on May 29, 1929 the first son of the late Paul and Lora Runion Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Edna Alverson Johnson of Inman. Carroll worked for Bell South 40 years and loved his job receiving numerous awards and trophies for being top sales person for the company. After retirement, he went to many nursing homes to visit and did piano recitals for the patients. He was very talented and loved helping and caring for people. In addition to his wife he is survived by 1 son: Barry Johnson and wife Sherri of Campobello, 2 brothers: Marcus Johnson and Bailey Johnson, 1 sister: Maxine Taylor, all of Campobello, 2 grandchildren: Kaitlin Johnson and Amber Purcell, and 3 great grandchildren, all of Indiana. He was predeceased by a son: Brett and a brother Shelton.
The family is at his home, 1131 Compton Bridge Road, Inman and will receive friends today, February 20, 2009 at Seawright Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow in the funeral chapel at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. Ben Herlong. His eternal rest will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to thank all who helped support Carroll and Jean during his illness, Rosecrest Retirement Community, Camp Care Nursing staff, family and friends, Lorine and James Phillips, Sue and Rick Pruitt, Lavada Gunter and many others.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the building fund of Gramling United Methodist Church, PO Box 58, Gramling, SC 29348.
