Carolyn Ann Hatcher

August 29, 1949 — August 21, 2021

Carolyn Ann Laughter Hatcher was born on August 29,1949 to parents Eddie Laughter & Eva Parris Laughter. She went to be with her Lord & Savior on Saturday, August 21, 2021.

From early childhood, Carolyn was a selfless peacemaker and loved her family deeply. She was a "Daddy's girl" and would go on Wrecker Pulls as a child with her father who owned Laughter's Auto Parts & Garage in Inman. This love towards her family continued through her life by taking care of her family. She showed the love of her Savior Jesus Christ. Carolyn gave her heart to Jesus at age 11 on April 7, 1960. Carolyn was a member of The Encouraging Word Ministry. She watched faithfully every Sunday. She was a lifelong member of Ingleside Baptist Church in Landrum where she taught the little ones in Sunday School. At the age of 40, Carolyn became a registered nurse graduating from USC Upstate Nursing School with honors. She was awarded the Student Nurse of the year award. She also was a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Club. While working for Mary Black Hospital, she continued to care for her father, who was ill with Parkinson's disease, devoting her time to care for him.

Carolyn always said her most precious gift was her daughter, Julie Ann Sexton Folk. She dedicated Julie at Ingleside Baptist Church to the Lord. She told God that Julie was their child. The strong bond between Julie and Carolyn grew stronger through the years up until the very day God called Carolyn home to heaven.

She is survived by her daughter Julie Ann Sexton Folk and Julie's husband Michael, who she thought of as her own son, her Chihuahua, Bella Hatcher who stayed by her side and her granddogs, Cotton & Bitsy Folk. Extended family, not by blood but by heart, is her daughter-in-love, Rhonda Horton with who she had a longtime friendship with Rhonda's Mom, Sara. Also Julie & Rhonda have been close friends since 2nd grade. She is survived by Thomas and Donna Heller, Abby and their furbaby, Dexter. She is also survived by a very special friend and neighbor Richard Prescott. She was predeased by her parents Eddie and Eva Parris Laughter and her lifetime, loving husband, Kenneth Hatcher.
She leaves behind many loved Co-workers, cousins, neighbors & many close friends.
The family would like to thank the wonderful care team at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

Carolyn's greatest wish was for people to accept Jesus Christ as Savior so they would go to heaven. She would remind people that we are saved by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16, John 14:6 & Philippians 4:13. Carolyn's favorite verse was Isaiah 41:10. Carolyn lived out her testimony during her life. Without a doubt Jesus has surely said to her "Well done My good & faithful servant!"

Her celebration of life was held Wednesday August 25, 2021 with Pastor Seth Buckley officiating. It was an intimate service where people were reminded of Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers or food, Carolyn requested that donations be made to Spartanburg First Baptist Church Building Fund 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg SC, The Encouraging Word Ministry, a part of Spartanburg First Baptist Church, In Touch Ministries with Dr. Charles Stanley 3836 Dekalb Technology Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia 30340, The American Red Cross, or The Spartanburg Animal Shelter 150 Dexter Rd. Spartanburg SC 29303.
