Carol Wayne Emory

Carol Wayne Emory, 77, of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on April 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on February 6, 1949, in Spartanburg County, Carol was the son of the late Boyce Lee Emory and Mae Ellen Emory. He was a proud graduate of Byrnes High School, Class of 1967, and carried the values of hard work, integrity, and service with him throughout his life.

Carol dedicated an extraordinary 50 years of his life to law enforcement, the majority of those with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout his distinguished career, he served in many roles, including being a School Resource Officer for Spartanburg County School District 1, where he impacted countless young lives with his guidance, protection, and steady presence. His commitment to serving others extended beyond retirement, as he continued to care for his community through his work with Seawright’s Funeral Home and Mill Street Florist.

Above all, Carol was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sherry Skinner Emory. Together, they built a life centered on love, faith, and family.

He is survived by his daughter, Brandy Parker (Matt) of Landrum; his son, Clay Emory (Laura) of Roebuck; his sister, Donna Jackson (Tommy) of Lyman; and his brother-in-law, Roger Skinner (Gail) of Inman. He was a proud and loving “Papa” to his three beautiful granddaughters, Emma Parker (14), Mary Ella Emory (9), and Julia Emory (5), who brought him endless joy.

Carol also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, including Ginger Gosnell (Tony), Brent Skinner (Karla), Morgan Stratton, and Mark Jackson, all of whom he loved dearly. He shared a lifelong friendship with his best friend and fishing buddy, Glenn Henderson.

Carol found great happiness in the simple things—fishing, working outdoors, and spending time with those he loved most. Whether on the water, in the yard, or gathered with family, he created lasting memories that will be cherished for generations.

Carol Wayne Emory will be remembered as a man of strength, humility, and unwavering dedication—someone who gave his life in service to others and whose legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family is at his home and will receive friends, Monday April 27, 2026, from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 pm in the funeral chapel with Dr. Reggie Parker and Dr. Matt Parker officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Assistance Fund ( Fund Code 00624) or Gibbs Cancer Center (PO BOX 2624 Spartanburg, SC 29304).
