Carl Mathis, 83, of 269 Jacob Creek Drive, Inman, SC, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, at his residence.
Carl was born in Cowpens, SC on August 14, 1942, a son of the late Viola (Splawn) Mathis and Jesse Mathis.
He was the husband of Virginia Sue (Ramsey) Mathis, retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and was of the Baptist faith. Carl was a Shriner, a member of Masonic Lodge #413 and a Hillbilly.
In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by three daughters, Cindy Gosnell (Scott), of Boiling Springs, SC; Regina McCracken, of Boiling Springs, SC; Rockie Mathis, of Boiling Springs, SC, 2 stepsons, Randy Burgess (Sharon) of Boiling Springs, SC, Dale Burgess (Stephanie) of Lexington, SC, 7 grandchildren, Nicki Gosnell, Stephanie Gosnell, Kyle McCracken, Lyle McCracken, Tyler McCracken, Kahne Biggerstaff, Haley Biggerstaff, 2 step-grandchildren, Shaina Ray, Jeff Burgess, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Cryptside Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 30th at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg, SC with Rev. Roger Gosnell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605-4277.
