Carl "Gene" Eugene Hammett

Carl "Gene" Eugene Hammett, 76, of 7865 Hwy 357, Campobello, SC, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Magnolia Manor of Inman. Gene was born in Spartanburg County, SC on February 5, 1940, a son of the late Albert and Elsie (Rollins) Hammett. He was the husband of Ruth (Calvert) Hammett. He retired from Peelers Dairy, was formerly employed at Inman Mills and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Peggy Edmonds, of Campobello; three sons Edward Hammett, of Inman; Chris Hammett, of Lexington, SC; Ken Hammett, of Roebuck; three sisters, Patricia Hammett, of Moore; Sandy Newman, of Inman; Shirley Morgan, of Williamston, SC, a brother, Wayne Hammett, of Inman; 12 grandchildren, Shania Arellano, Edward Jr Hammett, Rebecca Bennett, Adam Hammett, Isaac Hammett, Hannah Hammett, Calvert Edmonds, Clark Edmonds, Ruthie Edmonds, Ansley Hammett Parris, Tyler Hammett, Henry Hammett, 5 great grandchildren, Diego, Caiden, Taylor, Abbigail and Josiah. A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Inman, SC, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 24th, with Rev Heyward Calvert officiating. In addition to flowers memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church, Sugar Ridge Road, Inman, SC 29349. The family is at his home.
