Calvin C. Quinton

Calvin Coolidge Quinton, 87, of 326 Gwinn Mill Road, entered into eternal rest on, Wednesday, February 17, 2016, surrounded by his family. Calvin was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee on September 3, 1928, a son of the late Oscar Frank and Jessie Goodwin Quinton. He worked at Southern Railway for nineteen years, but was a residential builder, developer and owner of Quinton Construction Company for over fifty years in Spartanburg. Calvin was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church for more than sixty years and was active in the Spartanburg Home Builders Association , as well as the Masons and the Shriners. Mr. Quinton is survived by; his former wife, Waddetta Bennett; two daughters, Virginia Robertson and Linda Guyton and her husband Mike; one son, Glenn Quinton and his wife Faune; a sister, Thelma McDowell; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers; Cecil, John, Fred, Robert and his twin brother Alvin; one sister, Pearline and a special friend, Geri Ward. Visitation will be held, Friday, February 19, 2016, from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church Parlor in Spartanburg, South Carolina. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church on Friday, February 19, 2016, with Rev. Janet Joens officiating. The family ask in honor of Mr. Quinton's generosity and sincere care for the less fortunate, in lieu of flowers, that you take the time to do one kind act for those less fortunate.
