Byron Yates "Red" Barnwell, 64, of 106 Twin Chimney Road in Campobello, passed away Monday, April 22nd, at his home.
Byron was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on January 12, 1960. He was the son of Betty Atkins Barnwell and the late Robert Burton Barnwell, of Gramling, South Carolina. He was the widower of Lisa Barnwell. Byron is survived by his mother, two sisters, Betsy Ellington (Kim) of Vale, North Carolina, Beth French of Ralston, Wyoming, a niece, Betsy French, a nephew, Jackson Ellington, a great niece, Indigo and a great nephew, Eagle Song. In addition to his wife and father, he was also predeceased by a brother, Barney Barnwell and a brother-in-law, Glenn French.
Byron attended Chapman High School and was a member of Gramling United Methodist Church. His 64 years of life was filled with many interests and adventures. He was an impressive basketball player in high school, started his first business at age 17 and later became an entrepreneur of various businesses. He enjoyed fishing with his best friend Mark, deer hunting, growing summer corn, traveling with his parents to his father’s Navy reunions and maintaining his farm. He was a strong believer in helping others and lived a life of service to people.
* Due to inclement weather the Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Gramling United Methodist Church.
