Inman, SC - Broadus W. "Bub" McSwain,91, of 4020 Peachtree Road passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg. Mr. McSwain was born May 6, 1920 in Spartanburg County and was the son of the late Ed and Dora Calvert McSwain. He was a member of Sandy Springs First Baptist Church.
He was a lifelong farmer and operated a store in his early days. Bub was best known as a generous and caring man who provided fruits and vegetables for many in the community. He was loved by his family and his many friends for his quiet and compassionate ways.
He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Margaret Lucille (Painter) McSwain. His other survivors include two children: his daughter, Barbara Yelton and husband Donald of Inman; son, Donald McSwain and wife Linda of Griffin, GA. ,three grandchildren, Donette Stewart, Rita Lawter and Jason McSwain and wife Jamie, six great grandchildren, Stephanie and Zachary Stewart, Holly and Dillon Lawter, Selvie and Mallory McSwain, his siblings; Hoyt McSwain, Bonnie Owens, Corrine Webb, Will McSwain, Nathan McSwain, and Judy Baker. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Sandy Springs First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Phil Bailey and Rev. John Lynch. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at the home of Donald and Barbara Yelton at 4050 Peachtree Rd., Inman, SC 29349.
