Inman, SC---Mrs. Brenda Diane Hammett, 65, of 303 Water Oak St., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 7, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Spartanburg, SC on November 26, 1946, she was the daughter of Wilburn Ernest McCarter, of Inman and the late Ruby (Pittman) McCarter was the wife of Rev. Sam Hammett having celebrated 48 years of marriage. Mrs. Hammett was a graduate of Chapman High School "Class of 1964" and worked for Cryovac from 1965 until 1975. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Duncan where her husband was the minister for 32 years. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and was also very actively involved with the youth groups. In addition to her father and husband she is survived by two daughters, Lisa Mayfield and her husband Mark of Rock Hill, SC and Julie Cannon and her husband Stephen of Enoree, SC and four grandchildren, Lauren Mayfield, Luke Mayfield, Natalie Cannon and Tyler Cannon. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 2 - 3:30 PM at Grace Baptist Church in Duncan, SC. Funeral services will immediately follow in the church at 3:30PM with Rev. Danny Monroe and Rev. Stephen Cannon officiating. Burial will be in Wood Memorial Park with Pastor David Lewis officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 569 Duncan, SC 29334 or Cedar Shoals Baptist Church Building Fund, 220 Cedar Shoals Church Rd., Enoree, SC 29335.
