Bobby Gene Culbreth

Bobby Culbreth, a devoted Christian man, faithful husband, loving father and grandfather, and cherished member of his church and community, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 9, 2026, at the age of 94.

Mr. Culbreth was born in Greer, South Carolina on March 2, 1932, a son of the late Mary Sue Harley Culbreth and James Barney Culbreth and was the widower of Faye Garrison Culbreth.

He is survived by a daughter, Christie Mahaffey and her husband, Russell, of Inman, two sisters, Patsy Sheheen of Columbia, Linda Talley of Greer, and two grandchildren, Christen Mahaffey of Inman and Dalton Mahaffey of Inman. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by a daughter, Renee Culbreth.

His family was one of his greatest blessings, and he loved them deeply. He led his family by example, showing them the importance of faith, hard work, commitment, and love. The lessons he taught and the example he set will remain with his family for generations to come.His faith was the foundation of his life. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and sought to honor Him in all he did. A faithful longtime member of Holly Springs Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher and, as long as his health allowed, never missed a Sunday morning, Sunday evening, or Wednesday service. He dearly loved the boys in his Sunday School class, spoke of them often, and wanted above all for them to know Jesus. He faithfully shared the gospel, and his love for Christ was evident in both his words and the life he lived.

He also found great joy in the simple blessings of life. He loved being outdoors, whether he was bush-hogging on his tractor, mowing lawns, chopping wood, or simply enjoying the fresh air. He enjoyed playing golf and working with his hands, especially woodworking. One of his favorite projects was making birdhouses. He found satisfaction in creating something useful and beautiful from his own hands. Bobby was a man of strong character and an incredible work ethic. He devoted his career to the family business, Culbreth’s Cleaners, where his dedication and strong work ethic were evident throughout the years. He believed in doing a job well and taking pride in his work. That same dedication carried into every part of his life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Spartanburg Regional Hospice and Traditions Hospice for the unwavering compassion, dedication, and loving care they provided throughout his final months. The family is especially grateful for his caregiver, Amanda, whose kindness, compassion, and devoted care were a tremendous blessing to him and to his entire family. Bobby leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, steadfast love, hard work, and faithful service to Christ. He loved his Lord, his family, and his church, and he was never ashamed of his faith. He wholeheartedly shared the gospel and lived as a testimony to the Savior he loved. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that, through that same Savior, they will one day see him again.

The family is at his daughter and son-in-law's home at 251 Culbreth Road in Inman and will receive friends 11:00 AM to 11:45AM on Wednesday, August 12th at Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 noon at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Whitmire and Dr. Tim Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Billy Melton, Robbie Golightly, Billy Orr, Scott Rector, Aaron Warmack, Kenny Duncan, Brandon Souther, and Travis Sloan. Members of the Youth A Sunday School Class will gather as Honorary Escorts at his graveside committal service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spring Park Fund at Holly Springs Baptist Church, 251 Hannon Road, Inman, South Carolina, 29349.
