William Dixon "Bill" Johnson, 66, of Inman passed away Monday, May 9th, at his residence.
Bill was born in Spartanburg on April 19, 1950, a son of the late Charlotte Smith Johnson and Alfred Johnson and was the husband of Dateria Clarke Johnson.
He was retired from the S.C. Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and was the owner of WDJ Auction and Consulting Service and Animal Health Supply. Bill was a member of Inman Presbyterian Church where he had served faithfully as a Deacon, Elder, and Trustee; he was also a lifetime member of The S.C. Cattleman's Association and Foothills Antique Tractor Club. Bill enjoyed farming, gardening, and working with animals. During his youth he showed cattle and won many Blue Ribbons and awards at the state and local level. While he was at Limestone College, he worked for Dr. Brown, Veterinarian, where he learned to care for and treat animals.
He was well known and respected by many for the care he provided to their animals and pets. He loved going to antique auctions and collecting farm items, plows, churns and grinders. In addition to his wife, Dateria, he is survived by a step-daughter, Teri Bagwell and her husband Clark of Inman, three sisters, and two grandsons; Clark and Parker Bagwell. The family is at the home and will receive friends Thursday 5:00 until 7:00 at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman. A graveside service will be held at Shiloh Memorial Cemetery in Inman at 11:00am on Friday, May 13th, with Rev. Beth Hoskins and Dr. Paul Alverson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Inman Presbyterian Church 26 S Main St. Inman, SC 29349.
