Betty Settle Tomlinson, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 16, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, surrounded by family. Betty was born on June 10, 1931, to the late Huber H. and Maggie Edwards Settle. She was a retiree of the Spartanburg County Clerk of Court's Office, Family Court Division, and was a long time member of Fairforest Baptist Church. Up until her health started failing her, Betty was active in her church and her community. She was truly a Godly woman who loved her family and friends. For 55 years, Betty was the beloved wife of Albert B. Tomlinson, who survives her. In addition to Albert, she is survived by their three children and their families: daughter Elizabeth Hanley, her husband Mert and their children Maggie, Micah and Jesse and daughter-in-law Covington; son Huber, his wife Pattie, their daughter Brooks Taylor, son-in-law Chris and their son Jackson; and, son Andrew, his wife Lynn and their children Katelynn and Joshua. She is also survived by her only sister, Mary Louise Raines and her husband Gerald and brothers David and his wife Ramona, and Sam and his wife Pat. She was predeceased by three brothers: Hubert, Ralph and Woodrow. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at Fairforest Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Raines, Dennis Settle, Woody Settle, David Settle, Harris Settle and Ralph Settle. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church's family life center. The family is at their respective homes.
