Tallahassee FL.----Betty M Campbell Thomas, 86, passed away peacefully in Tallahassee after a brief illness on July 9, 2015. She was a member of the Killearn United Methodist Church, Tallahassee, and of Harbor City Chapter 263, Order of the Eastern Star, Melbourne, Florida.
Betty was born in Spartanburg County to Edgar Allen and Lillie Morgan Campbell. She married William B. (Bill) Thomas in 1946. After leaving SC early in their marriage, Betty and Bill lived in Virginia, Florida, Germany and Spain where they raised their daughter and son. They moved from Homestead to Melbourne, Fl, after Hurricane Andrew. After Bill's death, Betty moved to Tallahassee to join her family.
Betty and Bill enjoyed traveling in Europe, Britain, the Holy Land and Egypt as well as the USA. She will be remembered for her devotion to family and her kind and caring ways.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Robert Steans of Tallahassee, sister Sara Campbell of Boiling Springs, granddaughter Caroline Thomas of New Orleans, granddaughter and husband Elizabeth and Daniel Crocker and great granddaughter Emilia Crocker of Boston, and her son's widow Jane and husband Randolph Thomas of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 61 years, William B. Thomas, cherished son W Berry Thomas, Jr, and siblings Joe Campbell, Annie Lou Wilson, Aileen Workman, and Peggy Weathers.
Visitation for the family will be held at Seawright Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Seawright Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Kenny McDowell. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg, SC.
