Betty McCarter Self

Betty McCarter Self, 80, of 1191 Hannon Road, went home to be with her Lord Friday, November 13th 2015 at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, SC. Mrs. Self was born in Inman, S.C. on May 13, 1935, a daughter of the late James Olice and Ellen Stone McCarter. She was the beloved wife of the late H. T. Self and was a longtime member of Holston Creek Baptist Church and the Gleaners Sunday School Class. She was a former choir member and took care of children for many years. Any of these "children" are encouraged to come and sit together as the Honorary Escort.
Mrs. Self is survived by her dear son Carroll Eugene Self of the home, a brother, Benny McCarter (Louise), two sisters, Martha Blanton (Larry), Shirley Griffin (Jerry) all of Inman, SC. one granddaughter, Tollison "Tollie" Self McWhite and several special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a precious daughter, Sandra Self, two brothers, James and Grady McCarter and a sister, Margaret Stone.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:45 PM in the sanctuary of Holston Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Dr. Reggie Parker and Dr. Allen McWhite officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home.
