Betty Jo Stephens Petty

March 21, 1933 — February 24, 2017

Betty Jo Stephens Petty, age 83 of Inman, S.C. went to be with the Lord on February 24th at her home. Betty was born March 21, 1933 in Union County, SC the daughter of Martin L Stephens and Lois Dillard Stephens. She was proceeded in death by (3) Brothers Morris (Shirley), Dwight (Carolyn), and Junior (Lib) Stephens and (3) Sisters Avis (Arthur) Turner, and Aileen (Will) Staggs, Helen (Frank) Arthur. She is survived by her brother; Harold Stephens of Chaffin, S.C.. She was the Widow of Otha W. (Bob) Petty. Betty attended and loved her church family at Inman Freewill Baptist Church, Inman, S.C.. She was very active in her church, where she was a member of the Disciples Sunday School Class, Choir, Seasoned Saints and Ladies Auxiliary. Betty retired from Spartan Undies where she worked as a seamstress for over 30 years. After retirement she continued to work in many different capacities. Left to cherish her memory are her children Steve and Patty Petty, Lynn and Mickey Smith, Mark Petty all of Inman, grandchildren; Windy Smith (BJ.) , Jamie Lambert, Amy Martin (Michael) and Michole Smith (Shannon), great grandchildren; Kelby Lyles, Peyton Martin, Aby Martin, Ivy Lambert and Rayven Kessler, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family, and her special 4 legged girl Feebie. Betty Loved her family, enjoyed spending time with friends, and was always ready to travel. She took many trips including the Holy Land, Greece, Alaska, Hawaii and Spain. With her sweet spirit and willing hands she always had a cause or need to help someone.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday March 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Inman Freewill Baptist Church, 90 Blackstock Road, Inman, S.C. with Reverend Sean Fortner officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends. Burial will be a private ceremony at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 120 Heywood Ave, Suite 300, Spartanburg, SC 29302.The family will be at her home, 1481 Settle Road, Inman, S.C. Seawright Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the Petty family.
