Betty Barnette Easler
Inman, SC
After an extended illness, Betty Louise Collins Barnette Easler stepped into the presence of Jesus on April 17, 2016. She died at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones. Her sweet presence on earth will be missed, but we rejoice that she is now in heaven, completely healed and reunited with loved ones there.
The oldest daughter of the late Troy and Annie Lou Gosnell Collins, she was born at home, October 1, 1930, in Gramling, South Carolina. After moving to Inman and attending Holston Creek Baptist Church, she gave her heart to Jesus at eleven years of age and was baptized in a creek near Holly Springs. When she was fifteen, she met Ralph Barnette, whom she married after she graduated from Inman High School in 1947. Betty and Ralph had two daughters, Janice and Gayle. In January of 1980, Betty's granchild, Adam Mitchem died, and later that same year she became a widow after being married to Ralph, (owner of Barnette's Sausage ) for thirty three years. In 1990, her youngest child, Gayle Mitchem, passed away.
Betty worked at Roses Stores for almost thirty years before the store closed and then worked for almost seven years at First Baptist North Spartanburg, where she was a member. In 1996, Betty married Severne Dick Easler and they enjoyed living at Lake Murray until health problems prevented them from living so far away from family. In January of 2016, Mr. Easler passed away.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Janice Sharek and her husband Richard, whom she often said she loved like a son; her brothers, Ray Collins and his wife Becky and Randall Collins and his wife Pat. Known to them as " Granny ", she also leaves behind three grandchildren, David Sharek and wife Dana, Christy Earle and husband Tony and Greg Mitchem; six great-grandchildren, Rachel Sharek Sparks, Richard Clayton Sharek, Victoria Earle, Cameron, Scott and Stephen Mitchem and one great-great-granddaughter, Raven Sparks.
The family would like to thank the staff of Piedmont Hospice Care for their kindness and loving care during her final days. Betty will be greatly missed, but we know she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and we are assured we will be with her in heaven.
