Betty Jean Eklund Carter, 83, of 1532 John Dodd Road, Spartanburg, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at her residence.
Betty was born in Williamston County, Texas on July 28, 1935, a daughter of the late Adele Verona Kriedel Eklund and Clarence Albert Eklund. She was the widow of Nolen Mason Carter.
She graduated from Elgin High School in Elgin, Texas. She worked as a paraprofessional with special education children in elementary schools in Texas and was a member of First Christian Church in Alvin, Texas.
Survivors include: a daughter, Anita Jean Stafford (Wayne) of Inman; a son, James Mason Carter (Brenda) of Friendswood, Texas; a brother, Weldon C. Eklund of Texas; Five grandchildren, Travis Stafford (Kelly), James Rusty Stafford, Jesse Stafford (Caitlin), Stephanie Stafford Horton (Larry J. Jr.), Jamie E. Carter; three great grandchildren, Roxanne, Rachel, J.J.; and her fur baby, Effie. She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Gayle Carter.
Services will be announced later.
