Betsy Lynn Prewette passed away in Bellingham, W A, on Friday, January 7, 2011. She was born in
Atlanta, GA to Russell and Goldie (Kelleher) Hart. She was a resident of Whatcom County for 7 years. Betsy was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Prewette, in 2010. She was a loving wife, a caring mother and a successful businesswoman.

Betsy is survived by her son, Eric (Ellen) Brast and their children Ingrid and Owen of Chicago, IL; her sister, Nancy (Carmen) Battaglia of
Roswell, GA; and Donald's sons: Tim (Sarah) Prewette of Portland, OR and Phil (Christy) Prewette and their children Talia, Josiah and Micah of Lebanon, OR.

Betsy grew up in Kansas City, MO, where she took dancing and piano lessons. She enjoyed playing both classical and popular music and excelled at tap, acrobatics, ballet and jazz. Through the years she performed in shows at theaters, military bases, country clubs and other venues in both Missouri and California. She and her late husband, Don, met at a singles ballroom dance. Their mutual interest in ballroom dancing developed into a deep and lasting love between them. After moving to Bellingham, W A, from

Atlanta where she had resided for 33 years, she and Don continued to take dancing lessons, even learning the Tango.

Her greatest accomplishment in the business world was taking a fledging moving company, Peachtree Movers, and building it into a successful business with a reputation for moving all the Fortune 500 companies in Atlanta. She was owner and CEO of Peachtree Movers for 20 years until she retired and sold the company at the end of2000.
She had many talents. Throughout the years she had been both a photographic and runway model and also was an extra in several movies made in Atlanta. Building contractors were amazed at her vision when she remodeled her homes in Dunwoody and Bellingham, saying with her attention to detail and her instinct on materials and design she could have had a career in this area. Another skill was decorating. She had a flair for choosing the right fabrics and colors and had also amassed a collection of interesting art and artifacts purchased on various trips around the country.

All of her life she had a strong commitment to God. Growing up a Southern Baptist, she felt the Lord led her to her soul mate, the Reverend Donald Avery Prewette, a Baptist minister whom she married in 2004. When her health declined and she needed to leave the Atlanta area, she felt God led her to find Bellingham and the beautiful home she and Don bought there.

A service will be held in Inman, SC, on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Seawright Funeral Home. Viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the service at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Donnan Lawson and Mr. Max Reeves followed by the burial at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.

Memorials donations may be made to the Richard H. Scarborough Bronchiectasis Research Fund (RHS Fund).
