Betsy Hammond Brooks, 71, of 1754 Abner Creek Road, Greer, SC passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Betsy was born in Spartanburg, SC on January 15, 1946, a daughter of the late Virginia (Putnam) Martin and Jack O Hammond and was the step-daughter of the late Rufus V Martin. Betsy graduated from Edmonds High School in Sumter and Studied at Yuba City Junior College. She was the widow of Danny P Green and was a member of St Margaret's Episcopal Church in Boiling Springs. She retired from Mayfair Mills after 20 years and was employed at Pike's Bar & Grill from 2001 - 2006
Betsy is survived by a daughter, Tanja A. Kaltwang (Scott), of Boiling Springs; three sons, David Elswick of Campobello, Chris Amsler of Waynesville, NC, Tim Amsler (Angela) of Inman, two sisters, Virginia Brown, of Campobello; Melissa W Sheaffer, a brother, Jack L Hammond, of Atlanta; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Maria Elizabeth Kaltwang. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Friday 5:00 - 6:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Seawright Funeral Chapel, Inman, SC, at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 19th, with Rev Russell Lindsey officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to March of Dimes, 1275 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains, NY 10605.
