Mrs. Bertie Mae Lewis Golightly, 84, of 140 Johnson Avenue passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Camp Care. She was born January 21, 1929 in Gastonia, NC to the late Joseph and Lizzie Frasier Lewis. She was the widow of Mr. Jack Otto Golightly, Sr. and a seventy-one year member of Inman Mills Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her two children: a daughter, Kay Golightly Gilmer and husband, Ron of Brevard, NC and one son, Jack Golightly, Jr. of Inman; three grandchildren: The Reverend Dr. Ron Gilmer of Marietta, GA, Mark Golightly and his wife, Shannon of Rock Hill and the Reverend Scott Gilmer of Boiling Springs; four great-grandchildren: Lydia Gilmer of Marietta, GA, Logan Golightly of Spartanburg, Aiken Golightly and Griffin Golightly of Rock Hill; a sister-in-law, Vavaneen Lewis and a special niece and nephew, Judy and John Hench all of Lexington, NC. She was predeceased by three brothers: Ike Lewis, Ed Lewis and Odell Lewis; one son, Joe Golightly and one grandson, Jody Golightly. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 11th at 3 PM at Inman Mills Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack Hames, the Reverend Dr. Ron Gilmer and the Reverend Scott S. Gilmer officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Hench, Randy Craig, James Johnson, Roger Newman, Terry Johnson, Larry Kimbrell, Stanley Melton and Bo Cantrell.
Flowers will be accepted. In addition to flowers, memorials should be made to the Inman Mills Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staffs of Rosecrest, Camp Care and Lutheran Hospice with special thanks to Danyel, Mary and Charlotte, for their faithful care to Mrs. Golightly.
The family is at the residence.
