Bennie Elwin Mathews

Bennie Elwin Mathews, 90, of Marietta, GA passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

Born in Plains, GA on February 18, 1932.  He was the son of the late Edna Wellons Mathews and Johnny Paul Mathews.

Bennie was a former member of Smyrna First Baptist Church.  He was a retired owner/operator of Mathews and Son, Inc. Mobile Home Movers and served in the Army.

He is predeceased by his wife, Hilda Gowan Mathews, a daughter, Debbie Cox, a son-in-law, Gus Stallworth, a grandson, Jamie Dukes, a granddaughter, Christy White and great grandson, Neal Dye.

He is survived by 3 sons, Tim Mathews, Tony Mathews and Terry Cox and two daughters, Connie Stallworth and Sheila Jolley and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  

The family will have a Graveside service Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Duncan First Baptist Church in Duncan, South Carolina.
