Mr. Basil J. "B.J." Bailey, 91, of 111 River Place, Inman died Tuesday, August 11th, 2009 at his residence. Born May 14, 1918 in Rocks, Maryland, he was a son of the late Basil J. and Nettie Hartwell Bailey.
He was the husband of Francis Bailey. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, a mason and shriner, a member of D.A.V. and The American Legion. He served in the US Army during WWII and was retired from Daniel Construction Company.
In addition to his wife Frances, he is survived by a brother, Bobby R. Bailey of Christiansburg, Va., and a sister, Evelyn R Hayden of Norfolk, Va. Mr. Bailey was predeceased by three brothers, Alfred H., Woodrow, and Charles Bailey and two sisters, Joyce Walsh and Betty Hurt.
Graveside services will be held at 11:OOam Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Sal Barone and Rev. Bill Adams.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Thursday at the graveside following the service.
