Barbara Boyette Craig, 63, of Houston, TX went home to be with the Lord on Friday August 2, 2013 at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital. She was born on February 10, 1950 in Macon, GA. She was daughter to Gene and Christine Boyette of Warner Robins, GA.
After graduating Northside Highschool, Barbara attended Crandell Business College in Macon, GA. On May 4th 1969, Barbara married Arthur Craig and resided in Greenville, SC. They had three children, Elaine, Kevin and Brian.
In 1980, Barbara and her family moved to Texas where they ministered to the deaf for 33 years. Barbara worked as a church secretary in various churches throughout the Houston area. For the past two and a half years she served as secretary of Woodhaven Baptist Deaf Church where her husband pastored. Through her love for the deaf, Barbara became proficient in American Sign Language and loved to sign/sing. For many years Barbara served as a voice actress for the church's annual Christmas drama.
Barbara lived a life devoted to her Lord, husband, children, and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Arthur Craig, her son Kevin Craig, her daughter Elaine Hurtado and her spouse John Hurtado. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Samuel Craig, Jonathan, Makayla, and Brian Hurtado. She was preceeded in death by her son SSG Brian T. Craig who was killed in Afghanistan in 2002. Barbara will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 9 at 3:00 pm at Inman First Baptist Church and the family will receive friends 2-3:00 in the church atrium. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
