Barbara Jean Bellew

Barbara Jean Higgins Bellew, 78, of 231 Boundary Drive, Spartanburg, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025 at Spartanburg Medical Center after a sudden illness. 

Jean was born in Spartanburg on December 19, 1946, a daughter of the late Emma Belle Edmonds Higgins and R.C. Higgins and was the wife of 60 years to Walter Delano Bellew who survives her.

 She retired from Adidas after 31 years of employment and was a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Boiling Springs. 

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by three sisters, Linda Juray (Robert) of New Jersey, Debbie Jennings (Chip) of Cowpens, and Jeanette Warnick of Alabama. 

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a daughter, Debbie Jean Bellew Kirkland, a brother, Tommy Higgins, and a sister, Betty Jo Blanton.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 7th from 10::00 AM until 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of Gateway Baptist Church in Boiling Springs.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 7th at Gateway Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gateway Baptist Church 1600 Old Furnace Rd. Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
