Barbara Beasley Bane (1936 – 2026)
Barbara Beasley Bane passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026. Her unmatched resilience, toughness, and strong determination will be missed.
She was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina to Eva Bowers Beasley and K C “Red” Beasley. She and her younger brother, Ronald Beasley, spent their childhood in Winnsboro helping out with the family store. Barbara was a straight A student in school where she developed a reading hobby that would continue throughout her life favoring mysteries, history, and old west fiction.
After graduation from Columbia College, she ventured to Colorado to teach school and then on to San Diego to fulfill her dream to live on the California Coast. Barbara eventually moved back to Indiana and South Carolina to raise her family. She was mother to Terri Bane Davenport (Robert Davenport) and Christopher Allen Bane (Sherri Holtsinger Bane).
After teaching school, she became a bookkeeper for advertising firm and a radio station before becoming an entrepreneur by opening her own bookkeeping business that served local clients for many years. She continued her bookkeeping role going full time with one of her clients, and then after retirement continued to work part-time in bookkeeping through 2021.
Barbara, known as Nana, to her grandchildren, was often seen with them at the ball park or participating in their outdoor adventures. Her grandchildren; Megan Davenport Tharington (Nick Tharington), Crystal Davenport, Aric Bane, and Rhett Bane. Her great grandchildren: McKensie Edwards Aho (Pace Aho), and Cameron Edwards. Her nephew, Jody Truesdale (deceased) and his children Lauren and Lindsay.
Barbara enjoyed hiking the South and North Carolina state parks. She spent most of her hikes in Harbison State Forest where she was considered a regular by the Forest Rangers.
