Arvil G. Hester, 85, of 1411 Ballenger Road, Wellford, South Carolina, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019 at Lake Emory Post Acute Care in Inman.
Arvil was born in Green Creek, North Carolina, on March 22, 1933, a son of the late Vinnie Fagan Hester and John Thomas Hester. He was the widower of Barbara Jean Lawson Hester.
Arvil was a master wood worker and cabinet builder. He was a member of Inman First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Baraca/Winsome Sunday School Class, served as deacon and taught the young married Sunday School Class and was also very active in the Nursing Home Ministry. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War and was a member of the Inman American Legion Post #45.
He is survived by a daughter, Alisa Hester Rhinehart and her husband, Lee, of Evans, Georgia, a son, Mike Hester and his wife, Patti, of Moore, South Carolina, four grandchildren, Michal Goodwin and her husband, John David Goodwin, Rhett Gibbs, Elizabeth Pritchett and her husband, Stone, Emily Rhinehart, two great, grandchildren, Mary Harper Goodwin and Jennings Goodwin.
In addition to his parents and spouse, Mr. Hester was predeceased by a brother, Larry Hester and two sisters, Jacqueline McClain and Ima Jene Charping.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 18th at Inman First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Moore and Mr. Eddie Whitaker officiating. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends in the church atrium immediately following the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Baraca/Winsome Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Inman First Baptist Church Building Fund, 14 N. Howard Street, Inman, SC 29349.
