Andrew Henry High, 83, of 1113 Dorothy Street, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018, at his residence. Andrew was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on October 29, 1934, a son of the late Henry Turner High and Annie Mae Wofford High. He was the husband of Dorothy Pruitt High. Mr. High was a former employee with Milliken and Company, Butte Knitt and was plant manager at McBess Industries. He also was a former corrections officer, a South Carolina building contractor, having built numerous houses in the upstate, and his last place of employment was as the owner and operator of Bird Mountain Autos in Campobello, South Carolina. Andrew was a former mason and a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg. In addition to his wife, Mr. High is survived by two daughters, Gail High, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Pamela Gossett and her husband, Jimmy, of Gramling, South Carolina; a grandson, Andrew Gossett of Gramling, South Carolina. Andrew is also survived by two brothers, Frank High, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Troy High, and his wife, Martha, of Greer, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Seawright Funeral Chapel, conducted by Rev. Scott Lewellen. The family will receive friends following the service at Seawright Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gibbs Cancer Center, 101 E. Wood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Mr. High was a special husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed immensely.
