Alvin Donald Dickson, 85, of 123 S. Lake Emory Dr. Inman, SC, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 10th, at his residence.
Mr. Dickson was born in Inman, S.C. on September 13, 1927, a son of the late James D. and Henrietta McKittrick Dickson and was the husband of Faye (Dillard) Dickson.
He was the retired co-owner and manager of Stewart-Gwinn Furniture Company in Inman and a longtime member of Inman Mills Baptist Church and the "Saver of Souls" Sunday School Class . He served in the U.S. Army as an MP at a POW Camp in Tokyo, Japan and was also a past Commander of the American Legion Post # 45 in Inman.
In addition to his wife, he survived by a daughter, Kelly Dickson of Spartanburg , a sister, Dorothy Dickson Maxwell of Inman and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Conner, Bill, Ernest, Robert, and Edward Dickson and two sisters, Zell Donnahoo and Elizabeth Durham.
Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 12, at 3:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Hames officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Inman, SC.
