Alton Ray Henderson of Boiling Springs went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Ray was the son of the late Vaughn and Gladys Collins Henderson. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. Ray was a veteran and served in both the Army and Air Force. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Cantrell Henderson; two daughters, Sheila (Greg) LeMaster and Lynn (Robert) Johnson; a son, Lester Henderson, all of Boiling Springs; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Yvonne Edwards and one brother, William D. Henderson. Ray was predeceased by two sisters, Mavis Brockman and Virginia Anderson; three brothers Aaron, Vernon and Cecil Henderson. The family will receive friends at Fairview Baptist Church from 10:00 to 10:45 am on Saturday, November 30. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am conducted by Rev. Ty Childers and Rev. Gary Adkins. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund, 1551 Bryant Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
