Alta Marie Golden born to John and Bertha Whittenburg on December 21, 1933, died Thursday, May 9, 2013. Alta is survived by her sons Rick Whittenburg, Brad and Mike Golden and daughters Mendy Noblin and Michelle Berry, grandchildren Jason Whittenburg, Lauren Golden, Cody and Sawyer Sackett, Amber and Katie Golden, Jason and Cody Whittles and Patrick Hall and great grandsons Elijah Whittenburg, Jason Whittles, and great granddaughters Gia and Ava Whittles. Alta lost her husband of 45 years - Charles Wilson Golden on February 7, 2005. Alta's greatest and only real desire in life was to raise a family and be a homemaker. Those who knew her understood that the only real thing that mattered in her life was her family. A memorial service to honor Alta will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 12 at Zion Hill Baptist Church located at 2817 East Main Street, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Mile Stone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
