Mrs. Alma Lou Runion Jones, 86, formerly of Asheville Hwy. Inman went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 at White Oak Estates in Spartanburg surrounded by her children and her brother.
Born in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Jessica (Greene) Runion and was the wife of the late James Ralph Jones having celebrated 48 years of marriage.
Mrs. Jones retired from Raycord Manufacturing in Spartanburg after many years of service and was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg.
She is survived by a son, Wendell Jones and his wife, Judy of Spartanburg; a daughter, Glenda Nance and her husband Dennis of Spartanburg; two brothers, Gordon Runion of Inman and Jerry Runion and his wife Doris of Landrum; four grandchildren, Rev. Russell Jones, Hope Lane and husband Chad, Brantley Jones and wife Samantha and Spencer Nance; six great-grandchildren, Dylan Jones, Meghan Arrington, Logan Jones, Mikayla Jones, Brayden Jones and Maci Lane; six sister-in-Iaws, Mrs. Barbara Runion, Mrs. Margaret Runion, Mrs. Donald Jones, Mrs. Marcelle Jones, Mrs. Polly Jones and Mrs. Kathy Vaughn. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Calvin Runion, Dalton Runion and Eddie Runion; five sisters, Nell Vaughn, Ruby Vaughn, Ernestine Steadman, Jewell Runion and Lara Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 1: 30 until 3:00PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM in the Seawright Funeral Chapel with Rev. AI Phillips officiating. The burial will be held in the First Baptist North Spartanburg Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. AI Phillips and Rev. Russell Jones. Serving as Pallbearers will be Russell Jones, Brantley Jones, Spencer Nance, Randy Jones, Boyce Steadman and Vincent Steadman. Serving as Honorary Escorts will be her nephews.
