Spartanburg, SC ---Mrs. Alice Ophelia Benton Michel, 86, of 114 Pearson St. passed away Sunday, April 29th, 2012 at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.
Born in Thomasville, GA. on June 7, 1925, she was one of six children and was the daughter of the late William Columbus and Ola Mae (Hagan) Benton and was the wife of the late Wesley Michel.
She was a homemaker and was an avid volunteer with Disabled American Veterans.
She is survived by one daughter, Alice Faye Bonds of Spartanburg; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. A daughter, Mary Ann Paul, predeceased her.
A memorial service will be held at the Seawright Funeral Chapel at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 1st, with Rev. Michael Bragg officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. .
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Regional Hospice, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at their respective homes. An online guest register is available at www.seawright-funeralhome.com.
